I no longer include housework in my list of exercises that I’ve done for the day.  This is because I am not in the beginning stages of my healthy lifestyle journey.

When you are in the beginning stages

When you are in the beginning stages of living and active and healthy lifestyle, it is a good idea to track everything that is activity including housework.

In this first stage, it’s good to see everything activity you’ve done in a day on paper or on a blog or in an app.  It is a great way to change how you look at things like housecleaning.

However, when you get to the stage where you know you’ve taken 10,000 steps a day without the  help of an app,  I think it is safe to say that your thought process around activity has shifted.

When the shift occurs, you can stop counting your steps every day, stop counting cleaning as exercise, and not counting walking the dog is exercise as well.

All of those tasks I just listed above are legitimate activities. When you are in phase 1 of your health and wellness journey, you count those tasks with pride.
